Each April, Waste Management of Orange County,
Inc. donates $5 per ton of collected recycled materials to the
Friends of the Mission Viejo Library. This donation is used to
purchase new children’s books.
The Friends of the Mission Viejo Library also
operate Dewey’s Bookstore, located inside the library. The
bookstore is open seven days a week and accepts donations of “gently
used” materials. The proceeds from the sale of books in the
bookstore are donated to the library. Each year, the Friends donate
over $100,000 to the library.
The Friends of the Mission Viejo Library also
support the Readers Book Club. The Book Club meets on the fourth
Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Saddleback Room at City
Hall.
The Friends of the Mission Viejo Library also
operate snack and water vending machines in the library. Each
year, the Friends donate over $150,000 to the Library. The Friends
also sell used books on Amazon.com. |
